Our Bamberg Brigandine is a stylization of knight armor from the wood carving figure from the Bamberg Cathedral, Bamberg, Bavaria, Germany, c.1370. Approximately from 1360 some of the early brigandines – lentner –  began to be reinforced by additional plates.  Sometimes it was a large rounded plate with attached chains for sword and dagger. This modification significantly increased the protective properties of the mid XIV century brigandine. The additional reinforcement plate became then the independent armor known as breastplate fastened with the leather straps on the shoulders and around the belly.

Our Bamberg Brigandine is made with shoulder protection. Steel elements of armor are slightly overlapping each other. Brigandine fastens with the leather straps on the back. The upper covering material has U-shaped festons bottom line.

The base model is constructed with 1.5mm mild steel plates and a wool and canvas double-layered covering; without chains and hooks (can be added optionally). You can upgrade the metal to tempered or stainless steel, or to ultra-lightweight titanium, and you can substitute the wool with velvety suede leather.
Please note that measurements should be with padding/gambeson.
