This model of shoulder protection was inspired by Milanese spaulders – espalderium.

Our Segmented Spaulders are smaller than their historical XV century Milanese counterparts. This makes them more comfortable to use. The so-called “wings” of Milanese spaulders were quite big, such that they sometimes overlapped each other at the shoulder blades. This was done with the intention of reinforcing the back plate. Our Segmented Spaulders are articulated and movable and are equipped with leather points with holes. You can easily affix them to your padded gambeson and the ensure they remain in place, we use a leather strap for proper fastening to your biceps.

Our Segmented Spaulders are battle ready and can be used for full contact medieval combat in both HMB and IMCF.

Please note, that measurements should be with padding/gambeson.

    I got what I ordered. Size large, 1.5 mm tempered steel, and steel buckles/rivets. Both the steel and leather straps have held up perfectly and protected my shoulders from hits even after 50+ armored combat (IMCF rules) fights. Personally, I like the increased arm movement and striking mobility these shoulders provide due to their excellent articulation. I’m using these with the Forge of Svan “Steel Arms” (size medium, 1.5 mm tempered steel, steel buckles and rivets) and so far they’ve worked great together.

    I like the design. Stylish an functional. Got my version in hardened steel 1mm for 2 years now. No dents. Super! Use it for longsword duels.
