Brigandine Greaves
Leather or fabric with riveted and/or sewed metal plates underneath was an extremely popular form of armor among warriors of the XIV century. Brigandine armor was a precursor to plate armor (often called “white armor”). Due to their lower cost of production and upkeep, brigandine elements were accessible to nearly all medieval knights of Western Europe.
Our Brigandine Greaves consist of a set of vertical plates: five narrow plates, two wide plates on the end of each side and two small plates to protect the ankle bones. The wide steel plates form anatomically around the shin which makes wearing the Brigandine Greaves quite comfortable. The greaves are fastened using two leather straps and steel buckles. Your future Brigandine Greaves can be made from mild, stainless, or tempered steel, or titanium. We use wool and canvas as the base material, though you can opt for sueded leather should you so choose. The covering materials come in a variety of colors allowing you to express your identity.
From the moment they’re delivered to you, your new Brigandine Greaves will be battle ready for HMB/IMCF/WMFC rulesets for full contact medieval combat. Our Brigandine Greaves make a good set with Brigandine Cuisses and Brigandine Arms.
Please note that measurements should be with padding/gambeson.
