Vertically Quilted Gambeson Type-2
A gambeson is armor made of multiple layers of fabric. Often stuffed with (depending on region) tow, wool, horsehair, and sometimes saturated with salt. Depending on its period, the region and class of the wearer, it was considered either as armor, or as under-armor wear.
For example, for knights, a padded jacket was not the armor, and was worn solely as under-armor wear. But for infantry in Central and Western Europe, from the Dark Ages until the XV century, padded jackets were considered armor, and were often the only armor that infantry could afford.
Our Vertically Quilted Gambeson Type-2 is handmade, has long sleeves, quality machine stitching, and is quilted vertically.
We have added the option of stuffing one layer of padding instead of our traditional two. Under-armor padding should not be too thick as it can create mobility issues and plays a key role in thermoregulation during training and fights.
Our Vertically Quilted Gambeson Type-2 can be completed with sewn leather arming points for arm armor connection optionally. One pair of arming points will be attached on the shoulders. Two pairs will be sewn to the sleeve above and under the elbow joint.
Please note: the sewn arming points may not fit the holes of your steel arm harness. In this case, you can easily unsew them and change the positions according to your needs.
