A gambeson is the most basic piece of equipment you’ll need in order to get started with historical medieval battle. Armor begins from padding; it serves as a shock-absorber between your body and steel armor.  When choosing a gambeson, consider its thickness and bulk. Otherwise, you run the risk of overheating during intense fights in the hot season. Our Gambesons are made with 2 layers of natural sheet wadding with an approximate thickness of 1cm. You can also choose for it to be made with one layer. In this case, the overall thickness of the quilted fabric is 0.5cm. The exterior padding is a cool green color and can be outlined with black, red or yellow trim.

The Gambeson is fastened with three leather straps and steel buckles. According to your wishes, you buckles can be made from base steel, handmade steel, brass, or handmade brass with etching (as seen in the photos).

You can complement your Green Gambeson with Quilted Stockings of the same color or a contrasting one.

Our Gambeson can be completed with sewn leather arming points for arm armor connection. One pair of arming points will be attached on the shoulders. Two pairs will be sewn to the sleeve above and under the elbow joint.

Please note: the sewn arming points may not fit the holes of your steel arm harness. In this case, you can easily unsew them and change the positions according to your needs.

    A great top! I got two layer and as it does cook you, even with the arm separations, it doesn’t make movements too stiff. Great to wear when soft kit training and great density when in full contact. The buckles seem thin and feel thin but they’ve held up great. I’m honestly surprised.

    J'étais pro gambison a enfilade verticale pour des raisons de sécurité. Mais j'avais tord !! Je confort qu'offre ce type de gambison avec les manches amovibles est juste irremplaçable et donne un gain de temps si on doit s'aérer un peu ou enlever les bras quelque minutes pour du confort ! L'un des meilleurs achats que j'ai fait ici !!! Un petit souci pour les attaches qui ont été oublié, mais l'équipe à été super réactif et commerçante pour m'en envoyer !!!

    A great well-tailored piece, the colours are brighter than the picture but the craftsmanship is excellent. I opted for the tailored version with arming points and slit leaves along with handcrafted buckles - which are very nice indeed - the only thing I would wish for is a little restraining loop for the buckle. All in all very pleased
