Lorica Musculata
Lorica Musculata – a cuirass made in Roman style. Since 1510 armor and helmets have got grotesque shapes. Visors were made in a form of human face, bird or animal mask. Armor looked like the chic clothes of that times: volumed puffs with cuts. No wonder such armor and helmets, often decorated with gold and silver, became rather a parade costume than war ammunition of the soldier. The “armor fashion” after 1530 year includes detailed floral ornaments, engravings of grotesque and classic scenes. One of the types of parade armor popular in the XVI century it’s an armor imitating antic Greek or Roman style.
