Late XIV – first part of XV century. Early knee cap defenses consisted of small simple forged plate fixed on the knee. It was not enought to protect the external part of leg. The full knee caps with wings (German: Muschell) were developped in 1390s approximately and didn’t got changed much untill XVII century.
This armor part is also well known as “genouillères” in French, “Kniebuckeln” in German or “ginocchietti” in Italian.
Articulated Poleyns are functional protection of knees. Comparing to basic kneecaps – this model has upper and bottom plates wich add you more confidence and keep your knees safe during HMB or IMCF buhurt fights. Poleyns kneecaps are eqipped with the leather straps. This knee armor can be done from 1.5mm mild or tempered steel.
