Beginning in approximately 1360 lentner armor (a type of armor constructed mainly with leather and a precursor to the brigandine) began to be reinforced by steel plates. This basic armor consisted of steel plates which were riveted or sewn to the base material. Over time, the plates that protect the chest and back became bigger. Often the chest was covered by two large spherical plates. The Corazzina was very popular in medieval Italy among archers, crossbowmen and swordsmen. Some sources claim that the Corazzina was inspired by the shape of Roman lorica squamata.

Our Corazzina Type-3 Brigandine is an incredibly popular choice for body armor. It meets regulation standards from major full contact medieval combat governing bodies and because of its construction, our Corazzina Type-3 Brigandine can be easily adjusted – via its system of high-quality leather straps – for comfort and mobility. Through years of experience, we’ve perfected the Corazzina Type-3 Brigandine. It’s extremely protective yet flexible enough to provide a great range of motion when dueling.  No matter your build, it can be adjusted to fit you just right and create an amazing impression. Whatever your skill level, the Corazzina Type-3 Brigandine will go the distance for you.

What makes the Type-3 different from our other Corazzina models? To begin with, it was developed based on feedback from experienced HMB and IMCF fighters. All steel plates of our Corazzina Type-3 Brigandine overlap. This design makes it impossible for a weapon to hit unprotected gaps, because, simply put, there are none. It’s also even more adjustable than other models, which increases your ability to easily move around the battlefield and be in the right place at the right time to deliver unhindered blows to your adversaries.

The base model is constructed with 1.5mm mild steel plates and a wool and canvas double-layered covering. You can upgrade the metal to tempered or stainless steel, or to ultra-lightweight titanium, and you can substitute the wool with velvety sueded leather.

    This is one of the most comfortable chest armors I have worn! It has great range of motion and the grey color that mine is striking! It is a sturdy and well made item! Great job Forge of Svan!

    I bought this excellent some weeks ago and wowww!! Its made from 1.5 minimeters thick te tempered steel and dang its light as a feather!! Its realy strong and the measurements are perfect!! I ordered in size S (165 cm up to 171 cm) Im 168 and it fits just perfect!! Light, very moble and very stong!! For sure I would rate it a 5/5! Greetings, Lotte/ Knightly_Lady

    Excellent fit with very good articulation. I can still bend over and touch my toes while wearing it all. The quality of the wool used is amazing and can be brushed and cleaned easily after a good skirmish! Will definitely be ordering from Forge of Svan again!
