Corazzina, type 3
Approximately since 1360 year lentner armor got need to be much reinforced by steel plates. This basic armor consisted of steel plates which were riveted or sewn to the base material. Lenter gave the beginning to well-known brigandine armor. Plates that protect breast and back became bigger. Often breast area was covered by two large sphere shaped plates. Corazzina was very popular in medieval Italy among archers, crossbowmen and swordsmen. Some sources give us information that Corazzina was made under inspiration of antic shape of roman “lorica squamata”.
Our new model of Corazzina – Corazzina type-3 was developped on the basis of feedbacks of experiensed HMB and IMCF sportsmen. It has no gap at the waist area. Steel plates of lower part are riveted overlapping each other. That provides excellent movable properties of Corazzina type 3.
In basic options steel plates are made from 1.5mm mild steel with wool+canvas covering. Types of covering: fabric (basis – tarpaulin, covering – 100% wool) or leather.
This armor can be done from tempered steel or titanium. Corazzina type 3 is battle ready and can be used for HMB or IMCF the full contact medieval combat.
Please notice, that measurements should be with padding/gambeson.
