Gambeson Quilted Vertically
Gambeson – armour wear made of multiple layers of fabric. Often crammed with (depending on region) tow, wool, horsehair, and sometimes impregnated with salt. Depending on age, region and class was considered either as armour, or as under-armour wear.
For example, for the Knights padded jacket was not the armour, and was worn by them solely as underwear. But for the infantry in the central and western Europe, since the Dark Ages until the XV century, padded jacket was considered as armour, and was often the only armour that infantry could afford the.
This Padded jacket has long sleeves. Two layers of cotton batting. Handmade. A quality machine stitching. Gambeson quilted vertically.
Answering the particular inquiry of some of our customers – we started to make 1 layer padded gambesons and stockings. Underarmor padding should not be thick. Otherwise it will be hard to move in padding+armor. Also thickness of padding plays the key role in termoregulation during trainings and fights. Now an option “1 layer of sheet wadding” is available for all our Padded Gambesons and Quilted stockings.
New option added! Gambeson quilted vertically can be equipped with 3 pairs of sewn leather arming points for the steel shoulder and arm armor connection. One pair of arming points will be attached on the shoulders. Two pairs will be sewn to the sleeve above and under the elbow. Please note: the sewn arming points may not fit the holes of your steel arm harness. In this case you can easily unsew them and change the position according to your wish.
