Profight Leg Harness Set
The history of leg armor is the story of how mail stockings transformed in to a full plate leg harness. The first element appeared in the XII century. It was a simple knee protection: a round dish-shaped metal scale sewed upon leather. At the beginning of the XIV century the hauberk became shorter and shorter. Consequently, medieval knights were in need of solid thigh protection. The numerous conflicts in Medieval Europe increased the pace of invention such that in the middle of the XIV century, we can find examples of cuisse armor that covers the whole thigh. Early cuisses protected only the outer part of the thighs. Generally, the inner part was supposed to be adjacent to the saddle. Steel cuisses that covered the entire thigh in a “tube” shape appeared in the 1360s. However this design was later supplanted by the side plate attached to the main cuisse plate.
Our Profight Leg Harness Set consists of the Profight Leg Harness and Greaves. If you are looking for maximum protection for your legs, then look no further. 360° thigh covering, articulated knees, durable leather straps, closed greaves all of which serve to satisfy the highest requirements of the martial athlete.
There are holes on the bottom segment of the leg harness and a button pin on the greaves. Thanks to this construction, the two parts of the leg set join securely. Additionally, we drill holes at different heights so you can choose the position that suits you the best. If you prefer your Profight Leg Harness Set made without connective elements, you can select that option upon placing your order.
This armor set is battle ready and can be used in armored combat (HMB, IMCF, SCA).
