Legharness Profight Set
The history of the leg armor it’s the story of how the chainmail stockings transformed into the full plate leg harness. The first element appeared in the XII century. It was a simple knee protection: round dished metal scale sewed upon the leather. At the beginning of the XIV century the hauberk was getting shorter and shorter. Obviously, the medieval knights were in need of a solid thigh protection. The numerous conflicts in Medieval Europe made the invention process really fast so in the middle of the XIV century we can find the cuisses armor that covers the whole thigh. The early cuisses protected only the outer part of the thighs. Generally, the inner part was supposed to be adjacent to the saddle. Steel cuisses that covered the thigh fully around like a tube appeared in the 1360s. But this design was replaced by the side plate attached to the main cuisse plate.
Our Legharness Profight Set consists of the Legharness Profight and Greaves. If you look for the maximum protection for your legs – this armor set would be for you the favourite one. 360° thigh covering, articulated knees, durable leather straps, closed greaves – all serve to satisfy the highest requirements of the athlete.
You can choose the way the lower articulated segment of the leg should be joint with the greaves. It can be the holes on the bottom of the steel leg and pin on the greave. The couple holes will be drilled at the different height so you can choose the position that suits you the best. If you prefer to have the Legharness Profight Set be made without connective elements – you can choose it optionally (see option “holes & pin”). Armor set is battle ready and can be used in armored combat (HMB, IMCF, SCA).
